May 6-12 is National Nurses Week and FSL has some of the best nurses around. Denise Nunez, R.N., Skilled Hourly Nursing Supervisor has been with our Home Health department for five years. She oversees the care of tracheotomy and ventilator-dependent patients in their homes. This involves supervising 18+ nursing staff, who care for the patients from six to 24 hours per day. The benefit for the patient is to remain safe and active in their own homes, with family and loved ones.
Denise pursued a second career in nursing about 12 years ago. She has a passion for ventilator-dependent clients. Her goal is to keep them as active as they can be for their quality of life. Denise visits two or three patients a day, reviews their care needs with the nurse on duty, as well as with physicians and family members.
“FSL is a mission-driven organization, placing patients’ needs first,” said Nunez. “Each patient and family requires something different. I enjoy focusing on what they need and providing the best care possible. Our team works very well together and we all know we’re making a difference in the patients’ lives.”
Without this program, patients would have been forced to remain in facilities and separated from their families. FSL’s focus is to provide quality care to enhance the quality of life for each individual!
Join us congratulating Denise on five years of excellent service and wishing all nurses a very happy and healthy National Nurses Week!
