Tax Credit Donation Can Feed Vulnerable People

How Your Tax Credit Donation Can Feed Vulnerable People

The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit is a great opportunity to knock a hefty sum of money off of your state tax liability. But more than that, it’s a chance for Arizona taxpayers to see their cash produce tangible, positive results within their community. We encourage you to give your tax dollars to an organization you trust to put your money towards positive change —which, unfortunately, rarely seems to be the case with government-administered, taxpayer-sponsored projects.

In Arizona, food poverty is one of the most pervasive and significant problems facing communities. Every day, families in our state are being forced to make the impossible choice between groceries and basic needs such as medication, gas, and rent. In a recent study, Feeding America estimated that 798,790 people in Arizona live with hunger—269,610 of whom are children.

For people in this position, food insecurity or hunger isn’t simply a temporary problem; it can have serious, lasting consequences. Research has shown that children are most likely to bear the brunt of the effects of food insecurity. Food insecurity for children has been linked to birth defects, anemia, cognitive problems, depression, and anxiety, and worsened overall health. On the other hand, adults may experience increased rates of diabetes, hypertension, and mental health problems, among other conditions.

Help FSL Help Your Community

At FSL, we take the issues of hunger and food insecurity seriously and believe that food is the fuel to live independently. Through programs such as our food pantries, home-delivered meals, and daily lunches served at ReCreación and FSL senior centers, we’re doing our part to keep the most vulnerable members of our community fed and healthy. In light of the still-present effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the looming threat of inflation and recession, we understand that now, more than ever, access to nutritious food is critical for the families we serve. We ask you to join us in our mission to end food insecurity for families in Arizona.

If you’re ready to make sure that your taxpayer dollars go to a good cause, consider using your charitable tax credit to support our mission of ending hunger and food insecurity in our community.
