Wickenburg Community Hospital presented FSL’s Wickenburg Freedom Express (WFE) with the Community Service Award for Outstanding Customer Service and Commitment to Community Health and Wellness in 2016 at their annual volunteer luncheon on Friday, February 20, 2017.
The Freedom Express is a community collaboration between FSL, Salvation Army, the Town of Wickenburg, Wickenburg Community Services Corporation, and many volunteers. Its mission is to provide seniors over the age of 60 who do not have transportation with trained volunteer transit around Wickenburg so that they can remain active and independent. Riders must be able to board and exit the bus themselves.
“I was thrilled to receive this award on behalf of my fourteen amazing volunteer drivers who make a difference in our community every day,” said Carrie Ward, WFE Transportation Manager. “Since 2014, WFE has transported over 1,000 clients to the Wickenburg Community Hospital including the emergency room, the clinic, physical therapy and the lab. We are improving the health and wellness of Wickenburg’s seniors by providing consistent, safe and courteous transportation.”
