Holidays Are for Giving

The holidays are a time for celebration. For most of us, that involves food, whether in the form of traditional dishes, coveted family recipes, season-specific treats, or feasts to be shared with loved ones.

But for the nearly 800,000 people in Arizona who deal with hunger, food is scarce during the holidays (and often during the rest of the year). This is particularly the case for low-income families whose children don’t have access to school meals over the holiday break.

Food shortages not only dampen holiday celebrations for people in this situation but may also have severe consequences for their long-term futures. For example, food insecurity and hunger have been correlated with harmful health outcomes, impaired learning and decreased productivity for children in school, and maternal depressive disorder.

FSL's Food Pantries Ensure That Everyone Has a Happy Holiday Season

At FSL, we believe that no one should have to go hungry over the holidays. That’s why we’re opening the doors of our food pantries even wider this season and offering special holiday extras to anyone in need.

But to be able to do so, we need your help.

This holiday season, consider giving back to your community by donating to FSL’s food pantries. In doing so, you’ll be giving the gift of a holiday meal to someone who might not otherwise get one. But beyond that, you’ll be supporting the health and well-being of your neighbors—and that’s something we can all celebrate.
