We’re excited to announce that we have partnered with televëda to offer Adult Day Health clients exercise classes while the Stay-At-Home order is in effect. FSL clients can access the virtual workouts free of charge for three months. The partnership was made possible by funding from Suns Charities.
“We know it’s important for adults with disabilities and seniors to keep moving during the pandemic,” said Tom Egan, president and CEO of FSL. “We’re very excited about the opportunity to work with televëda to bring virtual classes to our clients. We know many of our clients are struggling with social isolation and miss their regular visits to our Adult Day Health Centers. This is an interactive way for them to re-engage with our staff, participate in something meaningful, and stay active.”
Televëda will post a monthly class schedule and clients will sign up by visiting www.televeda.com. Classes will range from brain games, chair yoga, movement with music, dance, and more! FSL clients will get reminders before each class.
The donation from Suns Charities also allows FSL’s recreational therapists to create more ways for clients to remain engaged from home. Caregiver tool kits, customized to each client’s cognitive and physical abilities, are being delivered to their homes. FSL, in collaboration with Arizona State University’s Student Health Outreach for Wellness (SHOW), is creating a bi-weekly newsletter which provides information, recipes, links to online programs, and an amazing calendar with suggested activities. Additionally, FSL created a video resource library on its website where anyone can follow along with videos that range from hiking a local mountain to drawing your own comics.
